Infertility Insurance

Infertility Insurance is a type of health coverage that some insurance companies provide to help couples pay for expensive fertility treatments such as fertility testing, artificial insemination, and embryo transfer.  These treatments help couples diagnose and increase the likelihood of conception, but as previously mentioned, are very expensive.

Health Insurance Coverage

Coverage for fertility treatment is not provided by all health insurance companies, but some insurers may cover all or part of the services.  In addition, some states require insurance companies to provide their customers with some form of infertility insurance.

To qualify to receive infertility coverage from your insurance company, typically you will need to be:  1) under age 40 2) experiencing infertility issues for a period of time (generally at least one year, but in some cases as much as five years) and 3) a policy holder with the health insurance company for at least five years.

As mentioned above, infertility coverage may vary from company to company so be sure to understand what benefits are included with your health plan before making your purchase decision if infertility insurance an important facet of your coverage.
